Fans unhappy about United FA Cup decision

United’s FA Cup third round tie with Reading has been selected for live TV coverage by BT Sport, much to the anger of fans of other clubs.

The Championship side will now visit Old Trafford on Saturday, January 5, with the game kicking-off at 12.30pm.

It is one of four live fixtures chosen by BT Sport, with the other three all featuring lower league teams facing Premier League opposition, in Southport/Tranmere v Tottenham, Solihull Moors/Blackpool v Arsenal and Woking v Watford.

BBC Sport have chosen Newport/Wrexham v Leicester City and Wolves v Liverpool.

United’s run of 58 successive live FA Cup games came to an end in the third round last season when the Old Trafford tie with Derby County wasn’t shown on TV.

That was a run stretching back 12 years, but all of United’s other five FA Cup ties last season were live on TV and the clash with the Royals, who are 21st in the Championship, will mean 64 of their last 65 FA Cup fixtures have been live.

But fans have questioned the choice to show United on TV again.
