KAYLA WESTCOTT TO UNDERGO MENTAL HEALTH EVALUATION

An Ada, Minnesota woman, accused of murder in Clay County, will now undergo a mental health evaluation to see if she can help in her own defense.

A judge granted the request for a mental health evaluation from the attorney of 35-year old Kayla Westcott. Westcott faces one felony count of second-degree aiding and abetting a murder with intent, but without premeditation. Until the evaluation is complete, all criminal proceedings are on-hold. Her co-defendant, 40-year-old Jason Jensen, pleaded guilty to the same charge at a court hearing in April. He said Westcott killed Troy Yarbrough of Wahpeton. Yarbrough’s remains were found at Jensen’s home near Hitterdal. Jensen is scheduled to be sentenced on June 11th.
